Hot Yoga In Galt

Studio owner Emily Dwornikiewicz, born and raised in Galt, knew Galt would be the perfect place for her and co-owners Wendy Dwornikiewicz and Christine Grant to open a hot yoga studio.

Modo studios are built on the foundation of clean and environmentally conscious construction. Renovating an older Galt building seemed like the perfect place to start.

“We love the stunning architecture in Galt,” says Emily. “It’s like living in our own little European city.” And having a studio in the downtown core means that yogis can truly embrace the foundations of their practice.

With ease of access and free two hour parking, Galt seemed to be just what she was after. Christine’s then mentor and now friend Tom Watson took her through the old Manions building and she could see the potential.

Today her vision is a reality: two second floor studios (one heated and one not), downstairs lobby and shared business spaces. The stunning original wooden floors were an additional nod to the history of the space. The beautiful building paired with Christine’s outside-of-the-box vision made it all come together.

The European charm and history of the town coupled with modern elements and forward thinking businesses spurred Christine to play a role in Galt’s rejuvenation.

“There is a sense of growth and expansion – you can feel it downtown,” Emily says. “The downtown has been moving forward at a good pace since we opened our studio in the winter of 2011.”

The continued growth of downtown Galt is complemented by a strong sense of community support. Emily reflects. “The community support is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Businesses open their doors for one another.”

“We strive to be really accessible, and we have a very wide demographic of students,” says Emily. “We are seven years strong, and during those seven years have worked to create and bring in different class offerings to support an ever-growing clientele. We always listen to the community – no feedback is bad feedback, but rather an opportunity for growth.”

This community-centredness has shaped Modo Yoga Cambridge into a hub of health and mindfulness, where everyone is greeted with a warm welcome.
